Suzanne K. Freitag, MD

Dr. Freitag is Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Service and Co-Director of the Center for Thyroid Eye Disease and Orbital Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. She specializes in disorders of the orbit, eyelid and lacrimal system. Dr. Freitag has written over 140 peer-reviewed publications and 4 textbooks on these topics.  She is the Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Orbit, the International Journal on Orbital Disorders, Oculoplastic and Lacrimal Surgery. 

Dr. Freitag graduated from Duke University and then received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist having completed residency training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Freitag then completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology and orbital surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery-approved fellowship in Boston.
